Already a fan favourite at live shows, Tóke's new banger "Dreams" explores the theme of aspiration and the relentless pursuit of one's goals. After "Easy & Sway", the second single of the upcoming EP "This Is Stupid" (Nov 23) is an ode to self-belief and consequently self-discipline. "Everything starts with a thought, a dream. What all great successes have in common is that you first have to imagine that this scenario can actually be a reality. This applies to all cases - from the ancient Egyptians building the pyramids to promoters putting together festivals - it all starts with the idea that it can be reality…" Tóke says.
Following the slogan of „This Is Stupid“, talented Indonesian cinematographer Jovian Fraaije has created a delightfully unconventional music video that embraces a hyper-ironic, trippy, and even cringy aesthetic that perfectly complements the song's unique narrative. With vibrant colors, unexpected twists and cameos from Indonesian rap star Mario Zwinkle and Reggae Legend Ras Muhamad the video is sure to leave a lasting impression on viewers. The video was shot in Tóke’s place of birth Jakarta, Indonesia.
"EASY & SWAY" is a light-mooded, groovy Bossa Nova inspired Pop Track showcasing Tóke's Reggae-inspired flows and delivery. The infectious hook repeats "Easy & Sway!", inspiring us to dance - and sway - in the hot summer sun with our significant other, carrying the jovial naughtiness of a light-hearted love. The music video was shot in Munggu, Bali, the place that gave birth to the name of Tóke's self-founded label "Munggu Tribe Records".
TÓKE JOINS FORCES WITH TUANTIGABELAS & MARIO ZWINKLE TO RELEASE
"BROWN FACE (REMIX)"
Initially released on Tóke’s 2021 EP „The Art Of Letting Go“, „Brown Face“ (Remix) features Indonesian heavyweights Tuantigabelas (Westwew) and Mario Zwinkle (Hellhouse). The song speaks about struggles of identity, representing one’s roots proudly and celebrating them unaplogetically. No stranger to the Indonesian scene, Tóke has frequently collaborated with the likes of Reggae-Giant Ras Muhamad and Oldschool-Rap-Legend Xaqhala (Hellhouse) among many more.
As an uneasy winter is set to begin in Europe, with inflation, soaring gas prices and wars tormenting the hearts of the people, Tóke's "Candlelight", remixed by DJ Densen, is a song of hope, warmth and stability in an increasingly unpredictable future. Tóke asks himself: how do we maintain our inner flame, whilethe winds outside are blazing? How do we stay sane, while everything seems to turn surreal?
The music video was shot, directed and edited bei Jovian Fraije in Tóke's birthtown Jakarta, Indonesia.
TÓKE PERFORMS AT HAVANA WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL 2022 (CUBA)
Tóke was invited to perform at Havana World Music Festival 2022 in Havana, Cuba. Adding to this trip he performed at Havana's famous music venue "Fabrica de Arte y Cultura", where he was able to share his music with a global audience making his first steps into Latin America / the Carribean.
"It was mindblowing to perform in Cuba and to see the people connect with songs that I wrote in my bedroom in Berlin. It was a spiritual experience that once again showed me how universal music is, this is really my purpose", the artist shares.
MEXICO TOUR 2022
LENGUALERTA & ZAMBRANO
Tóke met prolific Mexican Singer-Songwriter Lengualerta in Berlin back in 2019, where they recorded an acoustic session to the song "Zafar" by "La Vela Puerca". Both artists instantly connected and after the video gained traction in Mexico, they decided to tour together with Mexico City based Dubmaster/Guitarist/Bassist Zambrano. The 7-Date tour through Mexico was an absolute success, that Tóke describes as "on of the most humbling experiences on my musical journey so far".
TÓKE X FLKS RELEASE BOUNCY SUMMER TRACK
The single is accompanied by a music video that captures in real time the vibes of a life changing trip TÓKE made to Lisbon Portugal in December 2021. As the lyrics play, “Smoke to the sky, I relearned laughing. Done with the searching, I’m done asking. Future so bright, I need sunglasses”, TÓKE wanders carefree through the beautiful streets of Graça. Every moment captured shares an artist’s gratefulness for new relationships, connections and opportunities made, while throwing worry to the wind by letting life take its course.
